Robert (Bob) Lee Adams, 85, formerly of Vinita, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 in Westfield, Indiana. Bob was born November 17, 1935 to Raymond and Mary Catherine (Coleman) Adams in Springhill, Kansas. He was raised on a farm and went to a one room schoolhouse for most of his schooling. He graduated from Stilwell, Kansas.
Bob had several jobs from construction to working a sod farm, before going into the Army in May of 1958. When he returned from the Army in 1960 he began working at the post office in Prairie Village, Kansas. In his younger years he owned a 40 acre farm outside of Ottawa, Kansas and he coached little league baseball. Bob enjoyed reading western novels, especially those written by Louis L’Amour, and watching Perry Mason. He also liked to garden, and before his health declined you could find him walking the town of Vinita in the pre-dawn hours each day.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lawrence Calvin Adams; and three sisters: Thelma Krogmann, Blanch McClure, and Susan Peterson. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Claudia Arlene (Blaylock) Adams, who passed on January 4, 1983 and his second wife, Leona Ruth (Reiter) Adams, who passed on December 8, 2019.
He is survived by one sister, June Ward; one brother, Carl Adams; 2 stepsons, Gary Freyler and Charles Freyler; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
The committal service will be held Monday, December 14, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ghormley Cemetery, near Pensacola, Oklahoma, with Rev. M. E. Cashen officiating.
